Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday.

It is essential that you are a Registered Nurse on the NMC register. Applicants should have an appropriate Masters level qualification in Advanced Practice. The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified ANP with experience in an acute/cardiology setting.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in Cardiology to join our team of established Advanced Nurse Practitioners within Ward 6C in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for the advanced nursing management of a wide variety of patient needs such as: the acutely unwell, patients transferred from the Coronary Care Unit, pre-operative Cardiothoracic patients, intra hospital transfers, Pacemaker & Direct Current Cardioversion (DCCV), pre-assessment clinics, patients awaiting Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator and patients admitted for cardiology investigation or commencement of medical therapy. The ANP in Cardiology also participates and develops the In-Reach Heart Failure service providing advanced nursing management and support to other patients, out with Ward 6C and early supported discharge clinics. The ANP role includes the authority to admit, refer and discharge patients. This will involve working autonomously by utilising a high level of clinical decision making and problem solving skills. As an ANP, you will manage the complete clinical care for patients by utilising your advanced knowledge and skills; ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality and effective patient care. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is flexible, forward thinking, hardworking and professional. The ability to remain calm under pressure is a priority as well as possessing excellent communication and organisational skills. You must have the ability to work as part of a wide multi-disciplinary team as well as to work independently.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Candidates should provide original and authentic responses to all questions within the application form. The use of artificial intelligence (AI), automated tools, or other third-party assistance to generate, draft, or significantly modify responses is strongly discouraged. By submitting your application, you confirm that all answers are your own work, reflect your personal knowledge, skills and experience, and have not been solely produced or altered by AI or similar technologies. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in your application being withdrawn from the application process.
