Full Job Description

  • Providing technical and business consultancy services to crofters, farmers and landowners in Skye.

  • Working with clients both in office and on-croft or farm.

  • Undertaking surveys on crofts and farms some including significant amount of walking.

  • Working as a team to motivate, support and develop each other as a team.

  • Building strong relationships with the crofting, farming and local community, suppliers, and industry bodies.

  • Building trust and rapport with colleagues and customers.

  • Execution of project work funded both internally and externally.

  • Representing SAC Consulting and SRUC professionally at meetings, events, and farming groups.

  • Being part of an innovative work environment.

  • Identifying and developing business opportunities., For candidates with the appropriate potential, we may consider appointing at a lower grade on a 'trainee' basis with a view to developing into the full Consultant role after a period of training.     SAC Consulting is seeking an Agricultural Consultant or a Trainee Consultant to join our Portree team on a full-time permanent basis. You will join a team of consultants delivering advice to crofters, farmers and land managers on the Isle of Skye. The successful candidate will need to be versatile and be willing to be involved in a range of Consultancy services., + HND or degree in a relevant discipline. Whilst an agricultural qualification is desirable you may have a qualification within an area of business, finance or land-based sectors. Equally your qualification could be for example in a transferable area such as teaching but backed up by your farming or crofting experience.
    + Competent user of Microsoft software including Windows, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    + Proven effective written and verbal communication skills.
    + Full driving licence and own transport
    + Ability to travel away from home base when required.
    + Ability to work outdoors when required.
    + Flexibility in the range of work undertaken.
