Job title: Aircraft Structures Engineer – Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT)
Location: Prestwick. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role
Salary: £46,426 – £54,759 dependent on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Defining and carrying out engineering analysis tasks allocated to you and to your team members as part of the Advanced Aerostructures group, working on a range of modern military air platforms
- Review, checking and approving work done by less experienced colleagues
- Mentoring and developing less experienced colleagues to build up the team’s knowledge, skill and experience across the Structures discipline.
- Ensuring effective interactions between team mates, suppliers, customers and others, to develop efficient and effective working practices, and resolving issues as they arise to maintain this effectiveness
- Carrying out analysis of structure fatigue and damage tolerance calculations using a variety of software applications, to demonstrate that the structural design meets relevant certification and project requirements
- Assessing the F&DT implications of modifications and repairs to in-service aircraft
Your skills and experiences:
- You will have a STEM-related degree or relevant aerospace engineering experience
- Familiarity with structural fatigue and fracture mechanics, dynamics, vibration and acoustic effects analysis methods
- Good understanding of classical structural analysis techniques and methods
- Experience in using and applying of structural analysis tools such as Nastran etc, and output data processing techniques
- You will have experience of leading engineers in developing and delivering satisfactory customer outcomes
- Demonstrable experience of Aircraft Structural Engineering, and the application of F&DT analysis
