We have a rare opportunity for a leading role in delivery of the council’s housing allocations service. The primary focus of this post is to work with the Allocations Manager to ensure the team deliver all processes and activities in full compliance with the service statutory duties, procedures and targets as related to the allocation of council housing.

The Allocations Team Leader will support the team manager in supervising, co-ordinating and guiding the work of a very busy team of Allocations Officers and assistants who have responsibility for processing applications for housing, allocation of property, and managing casework and customer relations for applicants.

This role requires strong partnership working with the wider housing need service, HCBS colleagues, particularly Housing Operations, and other social housing providers in the area. You will also deliver training to staff to encourage compliance with procedures and practice, and to develop the skills and capacity of the team in terms of meeting their own targets, and service priorities.

The post holder will deal with customer satisfaction issues, and seek to learn from this in order to identify areas for improvement. You will have the chance to work across Housing Need and Housing Operations teams in order to build agile ways of working to deliver good outcomes, and drive up performance in allocations activities.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for skilled and motivated individual who has a deep understanding and first-hand experience of delivering housing allocations policy, and is experienced in assessing cases with a high degree of accuracy. We are looking for applicants who have excellent communication skills and can help sustain our strong partnership working with our key partners, and can deliver information targeted to the audience. You will be experienced in working with groups of staff and individuals on delivering feedback on performance, and constructively helping them improve their individual skills.
