Full Job Description

The Central Market Agency Ltd (CMA) is the organisation that administers the Market for non-household water and wastewater retail services in Scotland. Scottish Water continues to deliver water and remove wastewater, but competing Licensed Providers carry out retail activities, such as meter reading, billing and customer support. The CMA, which is owned and funded by Scottish Water and the Licensed Providers, operates the computer system (Central System or CS) which runs the market.

We have a small team based in Stirling, and currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic analyst.

Analyst (Job Ref: CMA 019)

This full-time role is centred around our offices in Stirling, although the business embraces a hybrid model with remote working arrangements. We currently require all staff to be present in the office for a minimum of one day per week (Wednesday), although this will rise to two days per week for periods when the business has new starts.

The candidate will primarily assist the Head of Operations in the day-to-day management of the Central Systems, as used by market participants. Specific duties include: review of settlement runs prior to publication; data investigation, analysis and reporting; user acceptance testing on biannual release projects; and assisting with an annual market audit of participants.

The candidate will be a numerate logical thinker with an interest in the application of technical skills to business. A degree-level qualification in a subject requiring a high level of numeracy and competency in IT is required. Some knowledge of Excel is necessary and experience with SQL or system testing would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will gain experience in solving real-world problems and will develop an understanding of a formal project management framework.

The position has a salary of £29.5k, a contributory pension scheme and an annual holiday entitlement of 25 days plus 10 statutory days. An annual bonus of up to 10% of salary is available based on performance.
