Full Job Description

The role is within the estates team at Lochore Meadows Country Park and work largely takes place outdoors, in all weathers, in a countryside environment.
You will work, under supervision, to provide general maintenance duties in line with the country parks aims and ethos.
The duration of the apprenticeship will be 2 years., During this period, you will undertake training and work towards an SVQ2 in Environmental Conservation. The Employability Officer will provide ongoing support in relation to completion of the SVQ2 qualification. They will also be a link person between apprentice, Park Manager and qualification Training Provider.

You must achieve milestone targets related to completion of the SVQ2 in Environmental Conservation as agreed on an individual Training Plan. Failure to meet these targets may result in the termination of the apprenticeship post. The Employability Officer will provide ongoing support in relation to completion of the SVQ2 qualification.

As part of your role you will assist the team with a wide variety of tasks to help to maintain and manage the park for the benefit of people and wildlife.

This can involve path maintenance, litter picking and management of a variety of different habitats, including woodland, grassland, wetland and also the maintenance of facilities for public access and recreation.

You should have a minimum of 3 National 4s, to include English and Maths OR Intermediate 1's, to include English and Maths OR equivalent Core Skills at SCQF Level 4.

You must have a passion for working in the outdoors and be able to give good examples of this and the ability to carry out work of a repetitive nature whilst maintaining quality of work.

An interest and passion in the environment is also essential to the role.

You should possess good communication skills and be able to transfer these in different circumstances e.g. dealing with members of the public and colleagues.

You should be a good team player as well as being able to work alone and unsupervised at times.

Some basic experience carrying out maintenance duties would be useful.

You should have the ability to follow complex instructions, stay calm and work well under pressure and deal with confrontation.

You will need to use your initiative as and when required.

You will possess good communication skills, be customer focused and demonstrate a "can-do" attitude at all times.

Salary: FC3 22,525.71 - £23,633.23 (50% of salary in year 1 & 80% of salary in year 2)
