Archaeologist (Fixed Term)

Hybrid with office base in Dumfries

£17,694.67 - £18,972

 

You will be required to work 16 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

 

Based in Dumfries, the post holder will work within the Development Planning team. This team prepares, delivers and monitors the Local Development Plan, Supplementary Guidance and other policy planning work. It also provides advice to applicants, agents and the general public about planning matters.

 

The post will be focussed on work tasks related to providing archaeological advice to the Council in relation to statutory planning work, the preparation of local plans and directly associated historic built environment matters.

 

You must have a degree in Archaeology or relevant related subject, membership of an appropriate professional institution would be desirable. You must also have knowledge of current policy legislation and procedures in relation to the planning system and the historic environment in Scotland. Previous heritage policy development plan work and providing advice on planning applications will be required.

 

You must have a good standard of written and spoken English, have computing skills, be able to identify heritage planning issues, prioritise and manage your time properly, work well under pressure and as part of a team, and demonstrate a customer-focussed attitude. A current driving licence is essential.

 

This post is fixed for up to 2 years.
