Full Job Description

Hutcheon Mearns are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for an Assistant Accountant for our leading global oil services client. This is a full time, staff position and will be based from our client's offices in Dyce. Our client can offer a competitive salary, flexibility and an excellent benefits package.

The Opportunity

The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for managing the finances for their assigned business unit. Duties will include:

  • Preparation of engine job cost reviews, investigating unexpected margins/costs
  • Ensuring appropriate accounting provisions are maintained for engines that have been taken to sale
  • Undertaking regular review of current and aged WIP balances and investigation of unusual movements/balances
  • Preparing overheads on a monthly basis and investigating movements from budgets/forecasts
  • Monthly reconciliation of Sale and Cost of Sale accounts
  • Completion of monthly data analysis schedules in a timely manner
  • Responsible for ERP system and associated information transfer hubs day to day operation, journal transfer and patch update testing
  • Assisting in Budget and Forecast preparation
  • Preparation of the monthly VAT Return
  • Preparation of the monthly Hyperion Data Input
  • Provide backup for Fixed Asset Reporting
  • Assistance with annual statutory audit

Background and experience

You will be a Part Qualified, Nearly Qualified or Qualified by Experience Accountant with relevant experience. You will work with a high level of detail and accuracy, have strong analytical skills and be confident working closely with staff in all areas of the business. Previous knowledge of Oracle ERP is desirable.
