Full Job Description

Rutherford Cross is excited to be partnered with a growing FMCG business based in Glasgow to appoint an Assistant Accountant. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, part-qualified Accountant to play a key role in delivering supporting financial reporting and improving operational efficiencies across the business.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review prepayments, accruals, and overheads
  • Prepare overhead narratives for Monthly Management Accounts
  • Prepare all bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and post ad hoc payments
  • Prepare the weekly vendor payment run in conjunction with the Accounts Payable Team
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cash analysis and reporting
  • Prepare the weekly 13-week cash forecast
  • Prepare interest accruals for monthly management accounts
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns for the group
  • Maintain the contracts register

Experience:

  • PQ & keen to progress through professional exams
  • Ability to collaborate with non-finance colleagues to ensure compliance
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Finance IT and Payment systems
  • Solution-oriented mindset
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
  • Understanding of principles and processes relating to Procure-to-Pay
