Job Title: Assistant Accountant (Rates)

Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £42,000+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the timely and accurate submission of statutory supplier reports and rates claims to CAAS
  • Regular liaison with partners in FP&A and Finance Business Partner to collect high quality audit query responses
  • Supporting managers in their engagements with the customer Audit team, representing the company professionally and with integrity
  • Updating of models to calculate robust and timely Actual, Forecast and Estimate Business Rates
  • Helping with the development of presentation materials for the engagement of internal and external stakeholders (briefings, awareness training, etc)
  • Support to the rates capability centre on its transformation journey, through sharing of learning, ongoing collaboration, delivery of change work packages and active engagement with other team members

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Basic understanding of the role of rates in business planning processes, bid work, and cost recovery
  • Experience using ERP systems / financial reporting toolsets
  • Proficient in using Microsoft products including excel, word and PowerPoint
  • Part qualified or qualified by experience

Desirable:

  • Financial modelling

The UK Rates & Government Contracting team:

As the Assistant Accountant (Rates) you will support all costing & pricing rates processes, including the submission of statutory reports and audit of rates claims. You will report into the senior Rates analyst and work closely with FP&A analysts and other stakeholders in the business. You will also collaborate with rates teams across the UK as part of the rates capability Centre. You will have regular contact with the MoD cost assurance & analysis service (CAAS) team.

In addition, you will work as part of the wider rates capability centre to achieve its transformation objectives and deliver the rates strategy and vision.
