Full Job Description

As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the procurement function within our Marine Engineering & Systems business unit. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for executing the requisition-to-pay process, ensuring efficient and effective supply chain management. Your Day-to-day activities:

  • Requisition to Payment: Process requisitions up to £2 million, ensuring adherence to agreed service levels and Babcock's commercial policies.
  • Order Management: Manage order books, expedite deliveries, and coordinate with finance to ensure timely payments.
  • Sourcing: Assist in supplier on-boarding and qualification, and source within existing supply agreements.
  • Supplier Management: Ensure suppliers meet technical and quality requirements and maintain accurate master data.
  • This role is full time 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

  • Basic knowledge of procurement techniques and ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle)
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented and collaborative approach
  • Qualifications for the Assistant Buyer:
  • Qualified to NQ level or equivalent through work experience
  • Willingness to study towards MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC clearance for this role.
