Assistant Buyer, The Klondyke Group

You will be working out of our Head Office in Falkirk where you will receive training in all aspects of Buying. The job role needs you to be flexible as traveling to suppliers and to our Garden Centres will be required, this may include overnight stays.

We are looking for a passionate assistant buyer to support our purchasing department with the selection and procurement of our horticulture ranges. The assistant buyer's responsibilities include maintaining positive vendor relations, preparing retail and pricing strategies, placing and tracking purchase orders, managing inventory and keeping track of market trends and vendor visits

What you will be doing as a Assistant Buyer?

Assist with all general buying duties within the horticulture department.
Supplier negotiations
Range Planning
Product selection
Presenting ranges to head of buying
Reporting on sales figures
Controlling stock flow
Learning how to use the Epos system
Liaising with colleagues in all parts of the business
Resolving problems
Helping with Centre refits

Previous experience in the horticulture retail industry is a plus but not essesntial
Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure
Experience with merchandising software systems is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft office
Be willing to travel to suppliers and our Garden Centres.
Hold a clean driving licence.
