Full Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant will be an integral part of the FES FM operational team based on the National Museum of Scotland Contract. They will be responsible for completing a wide range of general building, maintenance services and supporting the engineering team ensuring compliance with the contractual KPI's. They will adhere to high quality standards ensuring all work is completed in line with legislative compliance, FES FM policies and procedures. They will develop effective relationships and ensure that pro-active communication is maintained continuously with all internal & external stakeholders.,

  • Completing minor plumbing and drainage repairs such as fixing or replacing dripping taps, cistern, toilet repairs and clearing blockages
  • Basic joinery fitting shelves, hanging pictures and installing window and door locks
  • Carry out basic electrical works such as lamp changes or assisting electricians in installs
  • Supervision of contractors on-site including ensure compliance with agreed RAMS & SSOW.
  • Coordinating with contractors for routine maintenance tasks like cleaning or HVAC checks.
  • Undertaking basic plantroom checks and cleaning duties
  • Assist in the procurement, maintenance and storage of materials and equipment.
  • Managing inventory for maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Providing information for quotes
  • Supporting health and safety compliance by ensuring all facilities are safe and functional.
  • Work in accordance with FES FM Health and Safety processes and procedures and SSOW.
  • Proactively providing updates on work order status and completions to helpdesk & scheduling team.
  • These duties and responsibilities may be changed in accordance with the needs of the company; the post holder may be required to provide support to holders of other posts according to changes in workload and patterns of working.

    2-3 Years minimum experience in a similar role.
  • Building craft skills.
  • Previous experience in undertaking basic M&S PPM and Reactive tasks.
  • Health & Safety, previous knowledge of H&S process procedures experience from working in Construction or FM environment. H&S qualification CSCS card or IOSH Working Safely. H&S TBT.
  • Experience in working within a commercial setting.
  • Problem solving and employing ad-hoc solutions where possible.
  • Handling incoming work orders and responding to repair requests
  • Good IT skills.
