Assistant Group Manager (Structural Engineering) - GLA13378

Job Description

You will lead a team of structural engineers and technicians as part of a multi-disciplinary design team delivering the Council's new build and refurbishment capital programme including schools, care homes, community hubs, libraries, and sporting facilities.  

You will report to the Group Manager for Specialist Services.  

Duties will include design direction across various structural materials including timber, steel, and concrete, supporting and developing the team and managing external consultants where required.

You should be educated to degree or other appropriate qualification in building design related subject and be a member of The Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE). You will have excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to influence and support others. You should have applied structural engineering experience across a range of materials including timber, steel, concrete and brickwork and in-depth knowledge of structural design codes.

It is desirable if you have knowledge of public sector processes and project management protocols and experience of working on heritage / listed buildings..
