Hourly Rate: £19.68 - £21.34

Salary: £37,968.49 - £41,171.10 per annum

Contract Duration: Permanent

Role Purpose

To contribute to the delivery of a range of multidisciplinary operations within the Parks and Environment Service.

To manage the day-to-day operations within a Depot of the Parks & Environment Service to agreed standards and targets set in the Council’s strategic objectives, pertaining to all aspects of service delivery across operations in Grass Management, Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing, Public Toilets, Play Facilities, Allotments and Bereavement Services.

Work collaboratively with Assistant Operational Managers and Operational Manager/s in leading and Managing teams in the provision of high quality, customer-focused, value for money services, ensuring services are fit for purpose and able to respond to the Council’s agenda for transformation in all its forms, taking a creative and innovative approach to the delivery of services and establishing robust precedents.

Manage and maintain effective processes involving health & safety, ensuring wellbeing for employees and anyone else affected by work activities, through the implementation and compliance with policies, procedures and legislation. Ensure that all the work and outputs of the operations Teams comply with and promote equal opportunities and diversity.

To support change initiatives and programmes across the service, ensuring the continued development of a progressive, efficient and effective Parks & Environment Service that aligns with corporate objectives around Digital Transformation, Climate Change & Adaptation and Financial sustainability.

Work with local communities, elected members, voluntary, private and public sectors to address local, ensuring collaborative and participatory processes are integral to decision making. Work collaboratively as part of the wider Infrastructure and Environment Department, supporting colleagues to achieve departmental, local and national objectives and represent the Parks & Environment Manager in their absence, as required.

Essential

• SVQ Level 3 in Management, or evidence of experience in the management of similar functions.

• Site Manager / supervisor Safety Training Scheme Certificate, e.g. Managing Safely Training (CITB)

• Scottish Borders Council First Line Manager

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
