An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for an Assistant Supervisor (Machine Surfacing) to join our Roads department on a permanent basis.

NRS brings together a diverse range of Glasgow City Council operational, technical and development services that focus on sustainable transport, place making and delivering essential city services.

Position Details

Reporting to the Machine Surfacing Supervisor/Works Controller/Depot Manager, you will assist with the supervision of a range of generic frontline operational staff, in the delivery of services within a Roads maintenance, winter maintenance, traffic management and other emergencies.

You must be able to motivate a team, prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and be able to demonstrate the ability to find solutions to problems effecting frontline service delivery.

A current driving licence, a standard literacy and numeracy qualification, relevant supervisory experience of frontline operational staff, and previous experience in the Roads or Civil/Construction industry are essential requirements of the post.

A formal qualification to SVQ level 3 in a relevant discipline or training to SQV level 3 in an area appropriate to the role, a C1 licence and CPC, a C2 licence and CPC, an HUAC supervisor qualification, completion of a construction skills certification scheme, risk assessment training, and First Aid/Fire Warden training or a willingness to complete such training is desirable.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place from week commencing 28 April 2025.

Contract Details

Weekly Hours: 37 hours

Work Pattern: Sunday - Thursday

Annual Salary: £29,751.95 - £33,585.88 on an incremental scale

Additional Payments: In addition to the annual salary the role attracts a non-standard work pattern/hours (NSWPH) payment of £2,091 and a working context & demand (WCD) payment of £1,127.
