Work Pattern: Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week. - You will have significant experience of working at a senior level with the NHS, care, or wider public sector or in a complex organisation such as a university or private sector organisation as well as experience in playing a leading role in strategic planning and decision-making.
- You will be confident and experienced working at executive and senior management level.
- You will be a proven leader, values driven, and performance focussed ensuring that the HR team (c.50) are energised, high-performing and role model ambassadors for the organisation.
- You will have a strong customer mindset and experience in delivering a wide range of HR services at volume, establishing the processes, controls, and measures to ensure high quality, reliable, delivery.
- You will have HR and employment law expertise as well as substantial strategic HR business partnering experience.
- You will be experienced in working in partnership with Trade Unions and building highly effective relationships at all levels internally and externally.
- Support strategic policy development and implementation along with appropriate service support, design and enablement, that reflects both corporate and systemwide directives.
- Proven experience in budgetary, performance and risk management.
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations. The Workforce Directorate works at a national level to support the delivery of NES's strategic plan and is a key partner to the delivery of Scottish Government priorities for the health and social care workforce. The Workforce Directorate plays a multifaceted and dynamic role within NES. We're not just responsible for facilitating the attraction, recruitment, support, training, development, reward, and recognition of NES's workforce; we also hold a crucial responsibility in the employment of doctors and dentists in training across Scotland. Our remit also extends externally to NHSScotland in the recruitment of medical and dental trainees and other vocational trainee groups, across Scotland's broader health sector. We provide a comprehensive People and Organisational Development strategy, and our corporate involvement also extends to managing organisational change through consultancy services. Additionally, we are deeply engaged in ensuring that NES fulfils its commitments to Equality and Diversity, not only within our own workforce but also across all organisational activities. The Opportunity You will be responsible for leading the HR function within NES to contribute to the development and delivery of the NES Strategic Framework and operational plans; and for developing and implementing people strategies to support the delivery of these plans. You will represent and lead on behalf of NES at the relevant senior levels within the NHS, Scottish Government and other sectors within Scotland as well as the UK wide professional and government forums. You will also expected to take full accountability for the overall management, control operation and performance of the function.
