Full Job Description

Your New Role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Assurance Training and Competence Manager to join our CEFA account. National role can be based anywhere from the UK with occasional office visits.

 

 

Amey has worked continuously with Network Rail delivering aspects of the CEFA contracts since 2009, taking responsibility for the asset management and examination of different assets during this time.

Amey undertakes Structural Examinations, Structural Assessments, Operational Property Inspections, Earthworks Examinations, Technical Monitoring and provide Rapid Response services for Network Rail in several routes throughout the United Kingdom. Civil Examination Framework Agreement (CEFA) team includes approximately 200 Structures Examiners working on behalf of Network Rail to assess over 70,000 structures across the UK.

 


Assurance Training and Competence Manager plays an important part in supporting the   Engineering and Assurance Project Director in ensuring that all persons working on the CEFA Rail projects are competent to undertake their role, assisting in production of project technical and operational management documents and ensuring that works are being delivered in accordance with these contract management documents.

You will be involved in management and assurance of project activities that ensure the ongoing safety of our team and the daily travelling public using the tens of thousands of railway assets that we examine and assess. The standard hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week.

 

 

You will be responsible for:

The core works cover examinations and assessment of railway civil assets including bridges, retaining walls and stations to fully meet the client specification in accordance with relevant standards. The role will include the following responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in writing and maintaining the Competence Management System.
  • Assist in managing production and maintenance of technical training material.
  • Management and administration of applying the Competence Management System; including training, assessment, annual review and renewal of staff competences and verification and audit exercises.
  • Maintain robust auditable records and provide programme and progress reporting.
  • Line manager for a Training and Competence Assistant.
  • Assistance in writing and maintaining the contract management documents including the programme management system, ensuring full compliance with all Amey policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in writing and management of timely production of project safety and technical management documentation.
  • Maintaining a document register and document library for project management documentation.
  • Monitoring and reporting on team performance in meeting the requirements set out in the contract management documents.

 

 

 

We want to hear from you if you are/have:

 

  • IT literate, able to use a wide range of MS tools including Word, Excel
  • Ideally familiar with Network Rail technical standards and The Rule Book
  • Proven history of providing training and competence management, ideally for civil examination contracts.
  • Proven history of managing programme management systems and providing assurance activities ideally in the railway environment.
  • Ideally Training, Assurance and Verification qualifications
  • Ideally audit or assurance qualifications
  • A degree or HNC in a related field
