ScotRail have 4 maintenance depots throughout Scotland responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of more than 600 vehicles. Vehicle types are varied and include the most modern types of Traction and Rolling stock within the UK. All vehicles are maintained to the highest quality and engineering standards resulting in a challenging working environment.

THE ROLE: To ensure compliance to the service quality regime where the Service Quality Incentive Regime (SQUIRE) monitors and measures the quality of customer service provided by ScotRail. This role requires compliance with the on-train service schedules. The successful applicant will undertake maintenance and repair of vehicle interior equipment of Traction and Rolling Stock vehicles and ensure the working environment is maintained in a safe, clean and productive manner. Ensure where necessary that all work done on Traction & Rolling Stock Vehicles and equipment is recorded in accordance with the locally agreed system. Record all deferred work to ensure the safe return to traffic of all Traction & Rolling stock vehicles/equipment. Undertake other duties as requested by Team Leader.

THE PERSON: A highly motivated and enthusiastic individual. Must have a high standard of workmanship with a detailed eye focused on safety and quality.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Must have experience of working in an engineering environment. Ability to drive road motor vehicle is required for this post.

Hours of work: 35-hour week. The post includes working Dayshift/Nightshift and includes weekend working.

Reference Salary: £40,418 per annum on completion of training, training salary £36,396 per annum. We’ll ensure you’re rewarded for your contribution with a competitive package that includes:

Selection process: Candidates short-listed will be invited to complete online assessments. Candidates successful after assessment will be invited to attend an interview. The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical examination and drugs/alcohol screening. Appointees must provide a basic disclosure Scotland check and at least 2 satisfactory references and complete a six-month probation period.

Medical Fitness: Due to the nature of the post and rail industry safety requirements there are certain medical & fitness standards that you would require to meet.
