Join us as a Banking Product Control Lead
- Enhance your leadership skills by managing a team on the delivery of all relevant product control activities within Banking Product Control in the Finance Transaction Control function
- Your daily responsibilities will see you providing the supporting information as required to customers at a senior level in Financial Control and other key finance areas

- We offer a hybrid way of working where you’ll be based in our Manchester or Edinburgh office at least two days a week, with the rest of your time working from home
What you’ll do
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the delivery and integrity of product control activities for a subset of products for both balance sheet and profit and loss to support statutory and external reporting. To do this, you’ll be reviewing key reporting metrics and evidence of associated controls for consistency.
In addition, you’ll be leading a team to deliver a full set of high quality and accurate product level finance data to support the wider financial, statutory, regulatory and management reporting requirements within agreed timelines.
Your top priorities will include:
- Complying with relevant policies and considering the adequacy and effectiveness of our business’ controls on a regular basis and making sure that they comply with CEC guidelines
- Leading your team to perform product control activities within Banking Product Control and the delivery of the assigned workload within reporting cycle deadlines
- Reviewing the month-end production for all activities that sit on the group-wide banking architecture
- Being responsible for the balance sheet substantiation of relevant product source balances for our franchises and legal entities
- Helping the Banking Product Controller to provide expertise for all month-end activities and participating as an attendee or member in various committees
- Ensuring the integrity of monthly, quarterly and annual financial information, including the balance sheet, profit and loss account and other supporting data for relevant products
- Providing your product support expertise to Business Unit Reporting and the Financial Control function where support for our auditors is needed throughout the reporting cycle
The skills you’ll need
To be successful in this role, you’ll be a qualified accountant and have a record of application within a business environment. You’ll also need experience of working to tight deadlines and managing key finance deliverables, as well as relevant commercial insight.
Alongside this, you’ll need experience of leading global teams of finance professionals and delivering core financial controls and reporting outputs, including ledger close, balance sheet substantiation, statutory and management reporting and external audits.
Furthermore, you’ll need:
- The ability to build and enhance key relationships at a senior level, while influencing and challenging as required
- An understanding of Oracle financial applications and how to use the latest data management techniques and applications, including Python, AWS and Tableau
- Knowledge of change best practices
- Experience of delivering change in the financial services industry or medium to large corporates
