Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is within 07.15 20.05.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, motivated Registered Nurse as Bed Manager, to join our existing Site Flow and Bed Management team. The team provides support and input into all emergency and elective patient flow activity within North Sector.  We are looking for individuals who have the necessary clinical skills, an eye for detail, can follow process but also have the ability to work on own initiative. 

The Nurse Bed Manager role is an essential part of the hospital function, the nature of this role requires:

  • close interaction and liaison with speciality clinical and operational teams in the provision of clinical input into safe patient flow and placement. 
  • The post holder will also be required to manage and interpret   data plus   upload reports involving communication with a range of clinical and non-clinical personnel. 
  • The team has a base in the Site Flow Hub which is a busy environment, so you will need to work at pace within set guidelines. 
  • On a day to day basis a Bed Manager will take responsibility for patient flow within a defined clinical areas e.g.  Acute Medical Receiving Unit.

We are also seeking an individual who is keen to participate in service redesign as we look to remobilise services and develop roles and eHealth systems to improve real time communication with regards to patient flow.

To be considered for this post you will be a Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration, educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level and have clinical expertise within specialty / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
