The NHS Lothian Blood Science Laboratories comprising Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Immunology and Serology are based on 3 adult sites
(RIE, WGH & SJH).
This is an opportunity to develop your technical and managerial skills within a supportive team environment at the WGH Biochemistry Department. Applicants will be considered from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists educated to Masters level (Masters or HSD) with experience in Biochemistry and related disciplines.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with proven training and management skills. The ideal candidate will have experience at a specialist level in Biochemistry.
The post holder is responsible for maximising service provision, including enabling the delivery of a safe and effective service, and ensuring that all local and national guidelines and targets are adhered to and met e.g., quality and training, and helping to maintain our ISO 15189 accreditation.
Team Manager Based in Biochemistry WGH this post will be varied with both core automated chemistry, diabetic clinics and specialist sections (for example proteins) all on site. There will also be the requirement to actively engage and participate with the implementation and development of the new LIMS once it arrives within NHS Lothian Laboratories. Please note although the posts are based at the WGH, there might be requirements to travel to the other sites ad hoc to cover/provide support.
The post is for 37 hours per week and once trained and competent there will be a requirement for out of hours participation (backshifts, weekends and overnight) to ensure a 24/7 service provision for our patients.
