Full Job Description
Cabinet Office Digital aspires to make UK Government digital services the best in the world, meeting or exceeding the benchmark set globally by the best public or private sector standards. We are creating a digital culture where user needs are at the heart of everything we build. Through data democratisation, automation, governance and consolidation we will create a better Cabinet Office. As the digital arm of the department, we advise and assure our colleagues in developing their own Government Digital and Data capabilities, as well as taking on delivery responsibilities ourselves. This Business Analyst role is within the Platforms, Data and Interoperability (PD&I) team, and focuses on the Civil Service Careers website, however, you may work with or support other workstreams when required. The Civil Service Careers site was launched in 2018 and is the central, dedicated space for Civil Service Departments and Professions to highlight their work, culture, values and benefits packages. The service is continuously expanding and has recently undergone a transformation project making it the most flexible and economical option for departments across government to showcase their career offer. You will join a small, but motivated team to support the delivery of a programme of continuous improvements to the site and service. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is happy to fill gaps where needed, spot opportunities for improvement and innovate to resolve issues. As a Business Analyst you will:
- Identify, record and communicate complex business needs and processes to a range of audiences;
- Develop and refine product backlogs, using evidence and data to inform their scope and value;
- Design and improve the business processes that underpin our digital services so that they are simple;
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences;
- Ensure that our digital services are designed to meet government digital standards, including usability, accessibility and security;
- Create acceptance criteria for user stories to ensure that any new features or products have robust and efficient testing so that they meet user and business needs;
- Work with quality assurance testers and the wider delivery team to test our services before releases and rollout;
- Ensure our needs and requirements are fully understood by suppliers and work in partnership to deliver them;
- Collaborate with other delivery teams and stakeholders to maintain and improve our other services, using data-driven evidence to identify and address unmet or under-served needs.
