Full Job Description

Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis to inform decisions on a range of business development topics. Analysis will include gathering business and market intelligence, and performing opportunity assessments to evaluate strategic fit, identification of key value drivers and risks, and initial financial valuation of opportunities.

- Produce concise and well-evidenced decision documents that outline key conclusions and recommendations that demonstrate good knowledge of the UK energy industry, current market developments and how these relate to SSE's business objectives.

- Support the identification and assessment of early-stage inorganic growth opportunities by working closely with the Business Development Manager to originate and mature proposals for decision at SSET's Investment Committee and other executive forums.

- Support the delivery of M&A transactions by working closely with the Transaction Opportunity Manager on specific workstreams, including taking responsibility for leading the execution of due-diligence and investment assurance requirements by co-ordinating a multi-disciplinary team.

- Support the implementation of SSE's Joint Venture governance process across a range of JV projects to ensure SSE realises value from projects delivered via partnerships. Working closely with the JV Manager, the Analyst will co-ordinate delivery of assurance activities, influencing of the JV via various advisory committees, and briefing SSE's Board members on JV decisions.

Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field preferred, with good commercial acumen and an ability to mature commercial opportunities that access key value drivers and manage risks.

- Familiar with navigating business challenges that face a wide range of uncertainty and incomplete information, being able to derive insights from a mixture of publicly available research and proprietary information.

- Collaborative working style with demonstrated ability to deliver results as part of a team and ability to regularly re-prioritise work by remaining organised in a fast-moving delivery environment. Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship skills with the ability to establish and manage individual business relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

- Ability to consolidate inputs from teams across SSE to produce and structure high quality papers and presentations for senior executives. Documents will include investment proposals, business plans, budget papers and presentation of commercial opportunities.

- Good analytical skills with the ability to create and implement structured processes and workflows within the team to solve problems by applying analytical tools and methods.

Base Location: Reading, London, Perth or Glasgow - other UK locations will be considered, we will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland.

Salary: £40,600 - £61,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.
