Full Job Description

This is an excellent chance for a qualified lawyer to join the Securities & Asset Management Legal team (SAML). Ours is a positive and pragmatic legal team, working closely with the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) business areas which focus on debt capital markets transactions for clients both in the UK and overseas.

The clients are often household names and all play a meaningful role in the economy. Now is a superb time to join us, given this is a growing and strategic area for Lloyds Banking Group (the Group) and the wider economy.

The team supports across a variety of transaction types, and you'll learn about both existing and new capital markets products and services for clients.

Products include unsecured primary bond issuances and private placements, green bonds, social housing bonds, securitisations, covered bonds and other secured transactions, structured products, liability management exercises and high yield transactions.

The team also works on transformation, strategic and regulatory projects for business, and collaborates with other Legal & Secretariat teams on initiatives in support of the wider team.,

  • Be keen to provide sound and commercial legal advice on transactional matters and on projects;

  • Be driven by excellent outcomes for clients and the Group, handling legal risks and delivering results;

  • Be great at building trust and influencing others, and deputise for more senior colleagues where appropriate;

  • Look forward to growing internal and external networks to help achieve more together, and collaborate across Legal and Secretariat to support the wider business and our community as a whole;

  • Appreciate the opportunity to come up with innovative ideas, challenge where appropriate, and build consensus;

  • Relish learning more about the legal, regulatory and markets practices around debt capital markets and be agile and keen to upskill also in other areas which impact and bring opportunities to this business, including in matters of ESG, Data, Tech Advances and Digitalisation;

  • Work well both as an individual and in groups, with the support of a friendly team who will help you develop your skills and knowledge in this area.

    You must hold a current practising certificate in a relevant jurisdiction. Ideally you would have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in and a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework and market practices applying to debt capital markets, however, if that is not the case, but you have relevant expertise, clearly transferable skills, and are serious about your development, we would be pleased to consider your application.

    At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities.

  • With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

    We keep your data safe. So, we'll only ever ask you to provide confidential or sensitive information once you have formally been invited along to an interview or accepted a verbal offer to join us which is when we run our background checks.

    We'll always explain what we need and why, with any request coming from a trusted Lloyds Banking Group person.

    We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve.

    Together we're building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.

    We'll support your growth in this role with continuous training and development opportunities, regular feedback and career development conversations to help you fulfil your career potential, whatever your aspirations may be.

    About working for us

    Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.

    We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture. We're disability confident. So if you'd like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

    We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes :
  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

  • An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance

  • Share schemes including free shares

  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping

  • 30 days' holiday, with bank holidays on top

  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
