Anderson Knight are delighted to be partnering with one of our key clients as they look to appoint a newly created role for a Capital Projects Accountant.

This will play a vital role in supporting the financial aspects of our Transmission Capital Investment programme during an exciting phase of industry growth. Entering the fourth year of the five-year RIIO-T2 price control for Electricity Transmission, they are focused on delivering commitments while planning for RIIO-T3 and beyond.

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the Transmission Capital Investment programme, collaborating closely with project teams and the wider Transmission Investment team. You will support a range of large infrastructure projects at varying stages of development within the Transmission business.

You will work independently, tackling complex issues, providing clear insights, and presenting solutions that will guide business strategy. This dynamic and challenging role includes the following key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure robust financial control over the Capital Project portfolio.
  • Provide insights into the risks and opportunities within capital projects while maintaining compliance with obligations and corporate governance standards.
  • Coordinate and review project forecasts, delivering financial reports that highlight key drivers behind project performance.
  • Represent the finance team at project review boards, working closely with project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Support project teams with financial reporting and provide insights on the performance of regulatory funding mechanisms.

The main candidate will have:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA).
  • A solid understanding of our regulatory obligations under the RIIO price controls will be essential for success.
  • Ideally, experience with capital project investments and a deep understanding of the planning, coordination, and reporting processes associated with large-scale capital projects.
  • A proactive and inquisitive approach with a strong drive for continuous improvement, and the ability to build relationships across diverse teams while maintaining financial control.
  • Confidence in presenting and challenging ideas, and the ability to support colleagues in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.

The position demands a high level of financial control to support decision-making, ensure compliance with financial policies, and drive process improvements as the business undergoes rapid expansion.
