Full Job Description

This is a part time post and the salary will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked.

As catering assistant you will be responsible for cooking, preparing and ordering produce for meals for the young people (up to 6) and staff who live and work in Blairvadach Children's House.

As well as food preparation, you should also be up to date and aware of menu planning and suitably qualified in all relevant aspects of food hygiene guidance and practices, examples include recording food and refrigeration temperatures and ensuring a kitchen cleaning schedule.

The post holder will be an important and valuable part of our highly motivated and successful team. As such, you can play your part in ensuring that young people have an input into their choice of meals and you are encouraged to be creative in coming up with your own ideas and recipes for good, healthy food options, as well as some old favorites.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
