Full Job Description

Chair of the Board of Governors, Albyn School

Aberdeen/Hybrid

Remunerated (circa 25 days per annum)

Albyn has a distinguished history as one of the first all-girl schools, founded in 1867, and has been co-educational for almost 20 years. The school empowers children to take ownership of their future by fostering a love of learning through offering a unique educational experience.

We are a forward-thinking and progressive school that promotes a culture that encourages everyone to move beyond their comfort zone.

As one of the leading independent schools in Scotland, Albyn School is about to enter an exciting new chapter in its 157-year history. We are seeking a candidate who shares our vison of “building academic excellence” and equipping our pupils with the knowledge and skills to become good global citizens.

The successful candidate will use their expertise and experience to cultivate, and maintain, strong relationships with donors and secure funding to support Albyn’s long-term operations and growth.

To do this, you will act as one of our key ambassadors, championing the work we do and building relationships with key stakeholders at home and overseas. You will have broad experience of strategic, financial and business planning and sound budgeting knowledge, while operating at executive management level.

This role requires exceptional leadership, decision-making, and communication skills to steer the school towards its mission and long-term goals.

This is a fantastic, rewarding opportunity for someone with strong interpersonal skills who is purpose-driven, and has the innovative mindset required to help us grow and improve. If you are the visionary leader we are looking for, with a passion for education and improving the life chances of young people, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications in the form of a tailored CV and covering letter, highlighting your skills and experience pertinent to the role, should arrive no later than midnight Sunday 06 October.

For a confidential, informal discussion about the role, or to request a Candidate Information Pack, please contact LHH, Glasgow office.
