Full Job Description

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is the department for economic growth. We support businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country. The department's priority outcomes are:

  • Redraw our rules to ensure businesses thrive, markets are competitive and consumers are protected.
  • Secure investment from UK and international businesses.
  • Advise, support, and promote British businesses to grow and export.
  • Open up new markets for businesses by removing barriers and striking trade deals.
  • Promote free trade, economic security and resilient supply chains.
  • We are united by a common set of values and expectations for our staff to be expert, engaged, enterprising and inclusive. We value diversity in all its forms. Your role will be within the Project Delivery and Change Directorate, specifically leading the work of Change Management Advisory. The directorate sits at the heart of the department's Corporate Services and reports into the Chief Operating Officer (COO). It is the vision of the Change Advisory Team 'To provide all change initiatives with the highest level of Change Management support and capability, resulting in a more resilient, change ready department'. You will support this vision by providing an advisory service to the Major Change Portfolio (and other priorities as they arise). Utilising the DBT Change Management Framework, you'll provide best practice advice, guidance, coaching and support to embedded change managers to assure our governance boards that change management within DBT is delivered to the highest quality. Through your coaching, you will support the upskilling of our 'Change Practitioners' to effectively lead change initiatives in different areas of the department. You will also provide business critical information and insights to inform senior decision makers and work collaboratively with PD&C colleagues to create, deliver and embed solutions for new processes and ways of working. Your role will contribute towards current ODP Enablers of 'People & Capability' and 'Delivery'. You will ensure that our change professionals have access to inspiring tools and the appropriate skills and knowledge to deliver change well, considering the people impacted at all stages of project delivery. You will be expected to consistently apply and build on your own knowledge of Change Management and support the wider team objectives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise as a Change Keyholder Reviewer for Business Cases.
  • Lead on production and communication (quarterly iterations) of the Change Impacts Heatmap tool to track Change programmes across DBT, to create a Totality of Change picture and provide business critical information and insights to senior decision makers.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio, Advisory and Capability, Change Strategy and Delivery and wider PD&C to create, drive and embed new processes, ensuring change management is considered from the outset.
  • The role will champion best practice in Change Management and provide expert advice for team members and the project/change community, supporting the identification and development of benefits and delivery approaches.
  • Provide resourcing support.
  • Supporting the Change Management Capability Lead in delivering bespoke Change support interventions to teams across the department.
  • Lead and develop the presence of Change Management, and the offering of our team, using appropriate communication methods across the wider department and Government.
  • Line Management responsibilities as required.
