The Post:

We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care.  As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive. 

The Candidate:

We are looking for a friendly, confident, dynamic and outgoing nurse for one of our Collection Teams based in Aberdeen.  You will require excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and be able to lead, manage and work within a team. You will be self-motivated, proactive and an innovative individual with the ability to be flexible and react positively to on-going changing demands and priorities.

Knowledge of blood collection processes would be advantageous as you will be required to undertake venepuncture and medical selection duties. You must also be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development working within the competencies framework.

The position is based in Aberdeen: however extensive travel throughout the Grampian region is required. You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours will include regular late evenings and weekend working.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location and Working Pattern:

Aberdeen Blood Donor Centre, Foresterhill Road, Aberdeen.

Extensive travel throughout the Grampian Region is required.

Post 1 - 30 hours per week. 

Post 2 - 30 hours per week.

Monday to Sunday - the post will include regular late evenings and weekend working. 

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
