Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Mon-Sun.

The post holder will be based at Lomond ward at Vale of Leven Hospital, working Monday to Sunday in a full time shift pattern.  As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and evaluation of programs of care ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. In the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse the post holder will have continuing responsibility for the management and clinical leadership of the area including supervision, development and deployment of staff.   Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency. 

The post holder should be a Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration, educated to/working towards/operating at degree level, have postgraduate expertise within specialty/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently. 

The candidate should have leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery, excellent team working/leadership skills and ability to motivate others and work using own initiative, excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills, effective time management skills and a working knowledge of basic information technology
