Full Job Description

The Gate Charity Shop is a charity shop with a difference. Our shop operates profitably to provide funds to support our activities across Clackmannanshire. Together we work hard to provide practical support for positive change to the most vulnerable members of our County. Just like those we seek to support, we are a community at The Gate Charity Shop made up of a diverse group of volunteers and employees. As well as supporting people through community initiatives, we also provide essential access to affordable goods. Additionally, we work to support environmental goals by encouraging people to Re-use, Re-cycle and Re-pair. Principal responsibilities:

  • Motivate the team and create an energised, cohesive, tidy work environment.
  • Possess the ability to delegate, motivate, inspire and communicate to teams
  • Leading the commercial running of the store, including displays and merchandising, stock and waste management, maintaining high standards
  • Ability to maintain successful retail processes.
  • IT literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Be aware of and be open to the role of social networking
  • Experience of selling online
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day compliance with The Gate's policies and procedures

    Experience of supervising in a retail environment, preferably including volunteers
  • Empathy with The Gate's vision and values.
  • Have IT/administrative skills
  • Have an interest or experience in Charity Shop management
  • A willingness to undergo any relevant training
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships across organisations.
  • Be creative with an artistic flare
  • Our ideal candidate will also be:

  • Experienced with social media and other marketing mediums.
  • Personable and approachable, a strong team player.
  • Able to resolve problems with patience, kindness and good humour.

    Part-time, Permanent. 21 hours per week, with regular weekend work.
  • Pay: £12.50 per hour
