Executive Grade H - £130,043 to £173,278 per annum

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional leader who shares our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the communities of Lanarkshire. You will provide effective and visible leadership in NHS Lanarkshire as we reshape and remobilise services. You will lead a successful organisation as it tackles new challenges and will be responsible for the continued development of NHS Lanarkshires reputation for progress and success in delivering high quality and safe healthcare, working with our communities, staff and partners to achieve excellence whilst building our Healthcare Strategy, Our Health Together; Living our best lives in Lanarkshire and delivering our vision for a new state-of-the-art University Hospital Monklands as key priorities.

This is a very significant job, leading the third largest health system in Scotland. The Chief Executive is the Accountable Officer for NHS Lanarkshire which is the most critical leadership role in the organisation. It offers excitement and challenge and is a real opportunity for an exceptional leader who shares our vision and can demonstrate and live our values.

You will lead NHS Lanarkshires ambitious reform plans to improve the health and care of the people of Lanarkshire.  Your role will be to lead and drive the implementation of our evolving Whole System Transformation and Reform plans, and our innovative future service delivery plans with the aim of improving the clinical and care needs of the people of Lanarkshire and reducing the current health service pressures within Lanarkshire. You will deliver the implementation of these plans through your visible, clear, consistent and values-based leadership. 

You will need to have considerable experience of operating at Board level in a diverse and complex organisation which requires the understanding of the practical application of the levers and drivers to achieve change, transformation and improved performance. 

In addition, significant experience at a senior level in a commercial organisation along with experience of the NHS and the dynamics of the healthcare system, or other public sector organisation would be a distinct advantage.

To take on this role, you will require to be a highly visible and inspirational leader with the highest levels of communication skills.
