ThinkAnalytics is one of Scotland’s most successful and dynamic software companies and we are seeking a qualified accountant, to join the company as Chief Finance Officer to lead the group Finance department.


ThinkAnalytics develops and sells AI software for the TV, Media and Video industry worldwide and has the worlds most widely deployed TV search, recommendations and targeted advertising engine utilised by many of the world’s major TV and streaming corporations. You will most likely have used our software as part of your TV viewing experience.


With offices in the UK (Glasgow), USA, India and Singapore, the applicant must have experience of leading a finance team in the software and IT Tech industry. The applicant should have experience of international operations with ThinkAnalytics having both offices and clients worldwide. Experience of running mergers and acquisitions is essential.


JOB PURPOSE

The principle focus of the role is to lead the finance function to enable and contribute towards the growth strategy.

  • You will be responsible for and oversee all areas of finance, including reporting, management accounting and creation and presentation of financial data to the Board.
  • You will lead the audit of the group.
  • Finance leadership for the business, operating in a highly regulated, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Part of the Executive board engaging proactively on strategic business decisions, giving a financial and market view, and ensuring that appropriate financial controls are in place and there is adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Providing business wide financial & commercial leadership and inputting into operational and strategic decisions across multiple countries.
  • Working with other departments to drive and enable the development and achievement of the strategy.
  • Engagement with key internal and external stakeholders (including the Exec Leadership, Banks, Colleagues & Auditors/Advisors) across multiple countries.
  • Ensuring the company complies with accounting, taxation, financial and regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions.
  • Identifying future market opportunities for growth and engaging the business appropriately.
  • Ensure the business, compliance, data rooms are well set up for any potential acquisition transactions.

KEY RESULT AREAS


  • A key member of the Exec Team, you will provide business wide financial and commercial leadership.
  • Work in partnership with your peers to deliver a strategy, budgets and financial projections that will deliver profitable growth and value creation and holding the Exec accountable on all key metrics and targets.
  • Delivery actionable analysis into pricing and client margins.
  • Ensuing that appropriate financial controls are in place and that policies and procedures are implemented which will pass independent audit and due diligence.
  • Driving process and technical innovation, to include automation where feasible and beneficial.
  • Providing regular updates on key financial performance metrics.
  • Enabling and encouraging timely investment into the right areas of the business to support the future growth agenda.
  • Managing the financial risks across the business.
  • Further developing a culture of high performance aligned to the businesses long term growth strategy, and playing a key role in finance staff succession, team development and growth plans through training and development.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, including cashflow projections for the Board
  • Monitor banking activities of the organisation, ensuring adequate cash flow to meet the organisation's needs and apply effective treasury management.
  • Ensuring that all VAT and taxes are appropriately controlled and paid including opportunities for R&D tax relief and optimising all tax benefits.
  • Regular review and focus on suppliers, procurement management practices and business expenditure.

 

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB


  • Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with significant post qualification experience and must have experience of working at CFO level and being part of an operating board.
  • Experience of working in a commercial, high growth environment will be highly advantageous. Ideally overseeing compliance across multiple countries.
  • Must have had previous end-to-end operational finance responsibility.
  • Must have M&A experience, ideally from experience within software sectors. 
  • Strong business partnering skills; the ability to provide strategic, analytical, and operational support – a well-rounded businessperson.
  • Commercial flair and acumen – the ability to see the whole big picture without losing sight of detail and getting the best possible outcome for the business.
  • The ability to lead develop and mentor a finance function and a strong track record of leading high-performing finance teams.
  • Must have ‘vision’ to lead and be inspirational to others to drive the strategic objectives of the business and overall support long term growth.
  • Gravitas, passion, and the ability to operate in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to communicate at all levels. Able to explain complex matters with ease to diverse audiences.
