This is a tremendous opportunity within our Outdoor Pursuits team for a passionate and experienced Chief Instructor who will play a pivotal role in curating and managing a wide range of activities designed to deliver exhilarating and unforgettable experiences and memories for our members and their guests. With a strong focus on leadership, safety, and exceptional guest service, you will inspire a team of instructors in delivering world-class adventures that reflect the luxury and excitement of Taymouth Castle Golf & Sport Club. You will have hands on expertise in leading different outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, water sports, wakeboarding, archery and fishing. You are passionate about local history, trees and landscape, taking great pride in leading a team of instructors and guides in offering history tours and more across the vast estates of our club and the local area. Together with the Outdoor Pursuits Director you work to deliver a leading programme for our members and guests, compiling an operational calendar of events to suit every season which offer exceptional experiences for our members and guests. You take responsibility for organising team members to ensure they are in the right place at the right time with the right equipment while personally leading a variety of outdoor pursuit activities bespoke to guests' individual preferences and personal fitness levels. Delighting guests with your recommendations for outdoor adventures, aligning with their interests and abilities to create special and unique memories. Supervising and training our small team of outdoor instructors and briefing any third-party activity suppliers working with the team to ensure smooth operations and the execution of safe working practices that meet our health and safety requirements. Ensuring risk management protocols, first aid procedures, and equipment maintenance are adhered to. While on shift, be the main point of contact for guests - addressing inquiries, handling special requests, resolving any issues and always upholding a warm, professional and friendly demeanour. Collaborate seamlessly with other departments (e.g., member services, food and beverage, and residential services) to coordinate activities, guest schedules and special requests. Assisting with Trail & Activity maintenance and other general maintenance. Regularly report to senior management on activity performance and areas for improvement by maintaining detailed records of participation, guest feedback, incident reports and equipment usage. Maintain the inventory of equipment used for outdoor pursuits ensuring they are in meticulous condition, maintained, serviced and used in accordance with safety protocols with parts or replacements ordered as required, reporting any faults, defects, risks and hazards to the Outdoor Pursuits Director. Previous senior role experience in outdoor activity leadership or similar and/or estate environment collaborating with a small team. You have excellent communication, influencing and people skills with a natural ability to build rapport and strong relationships with a 'can-do' positive attitude when resolving queries in a practical and positive manner. Experience of writing and reviewing risk assessments and standards of procedures. Confident presentation skills - both verbal and written and proficient in Microsoft packages. A high standard of personal presentation and diligence, with strong organisational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and juggle competing priorities. Certification or training in outdoor activities or a related field, including. British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Leadership Award or equivalent. Archery GB or equivalent. Paddle sports leader award in at least 1 discipline. Summer Mountain Leader Award. 2-day Emergency Outdoor First Aid. A full UK Driving Licence. PVG Membership with a current CWPS. Physical fitness and stamina to perform strenuous outdoor activities, as well as the ability to lift and transport equipment as necessary, in all weathers - rain, snow, wind and the occasional sunshine!
