Full Job Description

Support Worker - you will be a qualified member of the childcare workforce, who can identify and meet the care, support and learning needs of children and contribute to the development and quality assurance of informal learning activities. Duties will be as follows-

  • To be accountable to the Senior practitioner or Manager

  • Work within established guidelines of staff to child ratios at the service base and during escorting duties.

  • Liaise effectively with parents using the service and encourage parental involvement.

  • Actively participate in ensuring all children's records are properly completed and kept up to date.

  • Supervise the children effectively at the service and during outings and trips.

  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of the play equipment.

  • Assist in preparation of snack.

  • Work as part of a team with full regards to the services policies and guidelines.

  • Be aware of and be responsible for the safety and security of the children using the service always.

  • Be confident to pass on any concerns regarding children's behaviour or developmental issues to your Manager.

  • Work flexible hours as determined by the Manager.

  • Attend and participate in weekly team meetings.

  • Take part in any relevant training as required.

  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to a multi-cultural approach to the service.

  • Take day to day responsibility in the team to ensure the children have consistent good care.

  • Actively participate in planning the play programme for children and ensuring that the children are involved in this process.

  • Take some responsibility for other workers where appropriate including supervising day to day activities.

  • Understand their duties and obligations you must adhere to under the National Care Standards and the SSSC codes of practice, PVG Disclosure Scotland

  • Any other duties deemed by the service manager.
