Full Job Description

1. To manage the day-to-day operation of the Macphail Centre, including staffing and personnel management, financial planning, budgeting and monitoring, health and safety management, facility and community arts and learning programming, provision of performance management information, marketing and promotional activity.
2. To implement and deliver the Management Agreement between The Highland Council and the Macphail Centre Management Committee.
3. To ensure that all facility operations adhere to HLH policies, practices and strategies including financial regulations, equality and health & safety requirements.
4. To develop a programme that ensures maximum utilisation of all facilities and maximises potential income generation.
5. To be aware of the High Life membership scheme and assist with the promotion of it.
6. To review and develop the current facilities to create a first-class facility for events, arts and lifelong learning users.
7. To develop the relationship with Macphail Management Committee, local members and Head Teacher to ensure appropriate community use of the community facilities and equipment.
8. To review and develop current events, arts and lifelong learning provision and a range of courses, activities and holiday programmes.
9. To work with the HLH Marketing and Communications Manager to develop and implement effective promotional activity to maximise the use of the Macphail Centre and the associated community facilities.
10. To recruit, train and develop a first-class team of staff;
11. To manage and supervise the work of the facilities staff.
12. To develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all key stakeholders, including the public, schools, community groups, user groups, Council and HLH staff.
13. To act as the principal point of contact with the Head Teacher and staff of Ullapool High School to ensure provision of agreed access to and use of the Macphail Centre.
14. To propose new ideas for development and to contribute to the implementation of new projects.
15. To assist, support and advise community-based groups and clubs and other potential users to develop and improve their activities, including the use of the facilities and programme of activities.
16. To work closely with the High Life Highland Health and Wellbeing Manager to maximise opportunities for health promotion and physical activity.
17. To work in collaboration with partners to source external funding to meet defined need.
18. To work a flexible work pattern, including routine evening and weekend shifts as required.
19. To provide management cover as and when required to other leisure sites within the HLH facility portfolio.
20. To assist the Area Leisure Manager and HLH Senior Management Team as required.
