Aberdeenshire Council Community Learning and Development (CLD) Service are looking to recruit nine 30 hours Community Learning and Development Assistants to contribute to the development and delivery of local learning and development opportunities in line with data driven identified need and national priorities. Successful candidates will practice a person-centred approach, be well organised and confident to engage with communities at all levels.

The Community Learning and Development Service (CLD) sits within Aberdeenshire Council’s wider Education and Children’s Service and CLD Standards Council for Scotland is the professional body.   CLD is a targeted service and works with individuals and groups offering learning for people who want to make positive changes in their communities and personal lives.

Adult Learning and Communities Team

Three 30 hours permanent posts in North Aberdeenshire

One 30 hours permanent post in Central Aberdeenshire

One 30 hours permanent post in South Aberdeenshire

The key duties of a CLD Assistant are to create and deliver adult learning and community development opportunities in line with council priorities. Focussing on literacies, family learning and accreditation you will have a strong commitment to working within communities to address issues of inequality. You will have experience of working within local communities with adults and community organisations using a CLD approach.

Youth and Communities Team

One 30 hours permanent posts in North Aberdeenshire

One 30 hours permanent post in Central Aberdeenshire

Two 30 hours permanent post based in Huntly, with an expectation to cover the Marr and Kincardine and Mearns areas as required.

The key duties of a CLD Assistant are to create and deliver youth work and community development opportunities in line with Council priorities. Through early intervention approaches, you will support young people to overcome challenges and to develop a wide range of skills. You will have a strong commitment to working within communities to address issues of inequality.   You will have experience of working within local communities with young people and community organisations using a CLD approach.

Requirements

These posts may require some irregular and unsocial hours, including working weekends. You must hold a current valid driving licence and have access to a car. There is a responsibility for the post holders to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and Aberdeenshire Council. Applications from recently qualified professionals are welcome.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

This post has a minimum requirement of one reference, which must be your current or most recent employer.
