Full Job Description

We require a Clerical Officer to provide day to day clerical support relating to areas of Health Records including Libraries, Discharge Tidy and Scanning: 

Post 1 Monday to Friday 2pm 8pm, 29.70 hrs, Fixed Term until 30/04/2025

You will rotate through a variety of roles within the department.

Administrative tasks will include preparing and scanning medical casenotes / ED cards, uploading to the clinical portal.

Due to the physical and repetitive aspect of the role, candidates must be able to lift and handle heavy case note folders and to bend and stretch to retrieve case notes from shelving.

You will also be expected to move large volumes of boxes to perform various aspects of the role to ensure storage space is maximised. This role also requires manoeuvring loaded trolleys and cages on a regular basis

Ad hoc duties may be requested by Health Records Supervisors ensuring efficiency across the 24/7 Inpatient and Emergency team. 

A level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential for this role due to data being uploaded to a live clinical system.

Relevant admin / clerical experience is required as is the ability to prioritise and deal with the day to day workload in a busy environment. You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team.

Candidates should be educated to Standard Grade (or equivalent) with passes in English and Arithmetic. You must also have good keyboard / typing skills with the ability to work on your own in. Good organisational & listening skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to working. A level of English language competency and communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and effectively is required.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.
