Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer based at University Hospital Ayr.

What you will do:

You will provide a clerical service to clinicians throughout the division, ensuring that procedures are in place to initiate and maintain accurate and up to date patient case records to support clinical care; administration of all out-patient appointment systems and waiting lists, facilitating equitable access to specialties across the division.

Your duties will include the maintenance and filing of patients confidential records, recording patient related data, admissions and booking out-patient appointments using the computerised Patient Management System, in addition to providing reception services, answering telephones and relaying messages.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential

  • Candidates should possess SVQ Level 2 in administration or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Experience working within an administrative environment
  • Keyboard / PC Skills
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with patients, staff, and members of the general public

Desirable

  • ECDL or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a Health Records environment
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage priorities
