 Fixed term until August 2025
 Salary £40,9951 - £64,461 per annum dependent on experience plus banding supplement 
 Based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary 

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow post in Emergency Medicine that is fixed term until 5th August 2025.

These post is available at the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and aimed at those doctors who have recently completed their foundation programme or equivalent, or core training. 

The post will afford successful applicants the opportunity to gain wide experience in Emergency Medicine and develop procedural skill. We are a friendly, supportive, and enthusiastic team, and are aiming to recruit like-minded individuals. 

Successful candidate will be contracted for 40 hours per week. Clinical work will be based in the Emergency Department and will include Out of Hours (OOH) work. The post holder will be paid at ST level based on their previous experience. A banding supplement relevant to the OOH component of their rotas will be paid in addition to the basic salary. 

The Dumfries Medical and Emergency Medicine Units teach Glasgow students in their 3rd and 4th year and ScotGEM students in their 2nd and 3rd years (ScotGEM is a 4 year postgraduate degree run by St Andrews and Dundee that is based mainly in primary care with secondary care bursts). Our Emergency Medicine teaching programme is highly rated by our students whose feedback places us right at the top of the West of Scotland teaching league table.  

Appointment will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff and Doctors and Dentists in Public Health Medicine and the Community Health Service (Scotland). 

NHS Dumfries and Galloway serve a population of approximately 148,500 within a large geographical area of about 2,400 square miles. Dumfries and Galloway stretches from Langholm in the East to Drummore in the West, and from Kirkconnel and Carsphairn in the North down to Sandyhills on the Solway Coast. The Health Board currently employs around 4500 staff excluding GPs and Dentists.

Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is a 344 bed state of the art hospital based in Dumfries. It is the main hospital for the region providing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient health services. The Galloway Community Hospital, which serves Stranraer and the west of the region, is an intermediate unit providing maternity services, as well as medical & surgical beds. There are bedded units within eight cottage hospitals which provide care services such as minor injuries units. Midpark Hospital provides inpatient facilities for mental health patients. Dumfries and Galloway is a beautiful and mostly undiscovered part of Scotland. This post would suit a doctor who enjoys walking, running, cycling, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. We are only a 90 minute drive away from the Lake District. We are also close enough to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Carlisle for those who enjoy the bright lights and city life. 

Dumfries and Galloway is a beautiful and mostly undiscovered part of Scotland. This post would suit a doctor who enjoys walking, running, cycling, mountain biking and other outdoor activities.
