Full Job Description

NHS Lanarkshire invites applications for the post of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Ophthalmology, based at University Hospital Hairmyres from February 2025.
This full time post will have a 50:50 split in sessions between clinical and teaching commitments
Duties will include participation in specialist and general ophthalmic out-patient clinics, emergency clinics, theatre sessions with the possibility of laser clinics, minor ops, and intravitreal injections dependent on previous experience. The job also has an on-call commitment which is currently a one in seven.
50% of the successful candidate's timetable will be spent teaching medical undergraduate students from the University of Glasgow. Candidates will be expected to organise and lead teaching sessions in conjunction with the consultant responsible for Undergraduate Teaching within the department.
You will work alongside four other trainees on the West of Scotland training rotation and two SAS doctors on the on call rota. In addition to clinical work, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Clinical Governance programme within the department and will be encouraged to participate in audit and research.
The successful applicant's timetable and teaching programme will be orientated towards applying to ophthalmic specialist training through the national recruitment programme.
