Full Job Description

Are you an experienced Commercial Manager seeking an exciting new challenge in the power sector? We are looking for a dynamic and skilled individual to lead the commercial aspects of high-profile, multi-million-pound power project for a major energy provider.

Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to work on the Eastern Green Link 2 project in Peterhead.   EGL2 will unlock the rich renewable energy capacity of Scotland and significantly increase the UK’s capacity to deliver clean energy for around two million homes in the UK.   Your expertise will be key to the success of this venture, and they are eager to welcome an experienced professional to their team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the commercial management of a major power sector project, ensuring financial performance and compliance.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise profitability and minimise risk.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of quantity surveyors and other commercial professionals.
  • Manage contract negotiations, procurement processes, and supplier relationships.
  • Provide strategic advice on contractual matters, dispute resolution, and risk management.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Extensive experience as a Commercial Manager in the construction or power industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and commercial management.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, etc.) is desirable but not essential.
