Full Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Officer on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting a business that provides system support services for the Royal Navy. As the Commercial Officer, you will perform contract management functions across the spectrum of actions associated with providing supplies and services, from capture through proposal, contract award, and all phases of contract administration. This vital role will be providing business advice and guidance whilst coordinating with other functions to effectively manage a breadth of responsibilities, including contract solicitations/capture, negotiations, and contract terms, including fulfilment of related obligations. Ensure contractual compliance with all laws and regulations, and adherence to Delegation of Authority and approval requirements for proposals and contractual actions. Lead and support audits, as appropriate, with internal and external audit teams and agencies to support contract-related activities and verify compliance. Ensure final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations. You will also, manage, provide guidance on, and administer multiple, complex contracts and relationships with minimum management assistance. Commercial Officer responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the different types of commercial/contract models and how to use them.
  • Ensures Terms and Conditions compliance and define all risks and create and implement solutions to problems and issues as they arise.
  • Independently identify, define and implement contract revisions and improvements in accordance with normal procedures.
  • Liaison internally, with customers and suppliers in support of the above and provide guidance and advice relevant to assigned agreements.
  • Organise and maintain contract files
  • Ensure timeliness of all contract actions and contract close out.
  • Keep internal and external stakeholders appraised of current issues and their mitigation/resolution.
  • Responsible for ensuring the flow down of prime contract commercial requirements to suppliers.

    Proven experience as a Commercial Officer or in a similar contracts management role.
  • Expertise in managing contracts for major projects, programmes, and complex agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial/contract models and risk management.
  • Keen attention to detail with strong analytical, report writing, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Experience in MOD / Defence contracts management.
  • Experience in a business development role, supporting capture management and bids.
