35 hours per week

Temporary up to 30 June 2026

£30,488 - £32,605 / £16.71 - £17.87 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

This post is classed as a politically restricted post under the provisions of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended)

Orkney Islands Council is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Committees Officer to join the Council’s Governance team. You will provide a comprehensive administrative and support service to the Council and its Committees, as well as other bodies serviced by the Council, including attending and clerking meetings, collating and issuing papers for meetings and processing reports and correspondence.

You will be expected to liaise with senior officers in the preparation of reports and produce accurate minutes of meetings, as well as ensuring actions arising from meetings are communicated to relevant officers for implementation.

You should have experience of administering meetings, as well as working in a busy and fast-paced environment, where attention to detail is paramount.

You should hold a qualification at SCQF 6/7 i.e. SVQ3, National Certificate, Foundation Apprenticeship, Advanced Higher, Scottish Baccalaureate, HNC, Certificate of Higher Education in a relevant subject, or where this is not held, you must have a minimum of 3 years' previous experience.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
