To support the Council’s priorities in relation to net zero and Community Wealth Building, the role of community benefits officer has been created and is recognised as key to ensuring the Council maximises its return on it’s £220M per annum spend on a range of goods, services and works to ensure positive influence and added value, particularly against these priorities.

The Community Benefits Officer role is recognised as one that can positively contribute towards the environmental and societal commitments, maintaining the role of improving economic performance within Dumfries and Galloway.

You will work as a member of the Council’s Corporate Procurement & Commissioning team who have responsibility for the procurement of all goods, services and works across the Council, who work to ensure the Council comply with procurement regulations whilst focusing on the delivery of cashable savings and sustainable outcomes for the Council’s spend.  

The Community Benefits Officer will be responsible duties will include:
- Leading the activities set within the Council’s Sustainable Procurement Policy: ensuring a consistent and structured approach which is embedded across the organisation with robust monitoring and reporting in place to ensure it’s impact and effectiveness. 
Playing a consultative role to the wider procurement team and Council wide, in relation to responsible and sustainable procurement and Community Wealth Building opportunities for procurement spend.
- Support the Policy & Development Procurement Team Leader to produce accurate reports and data in relation to procurement impact on community engagement, social value, local economy, environmental impacts and community benefits
 
You will be educated to SCQF Level 9 in a relevant discipline.  Successful candidates will also be required to have strong communication and presentation skills, bringing with them a positive attitude and motivation to the team.

This post is fixed term for 1 year.  This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
