Are you passionate about making a positive impact in communities? Do you thrive on connecting with people and driving change? Join SSE as a Community Investment Manager and embark on a rewarding journey where you'll play a pivotal role in empowering local initiatives and projects. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to engage with diverse communities, allocate resources effectively, and witness first-hand the transformative power of our leading community investment programme. If you're ready to channel your enthusiasm into creating lasting social change, we'd love to hear from you.

As part of our Community Investment team, you'll take on a range of responsibilities, including:

- Developing, managing, and administering a portfolio of community funds across the north of Scotland, primarily in Sutherland and Caithness. Working with communities and community organisations to support them in ensuring that the funding delivers legacy for the area. Building and maintaining strong relationships with communities, built on trust.

- Taking a flexible approach to funding and supporting communities to think strategically about how the funding can be used. Assessing applications to funds on a fair and equal basis and presenting these assessments to local decision-making panels.

- Acting as an ambassador for SSE, you will seek to build strong relationships with local and regional stakeholders from community representatives to politicians, ensuring that a positive impact to both the community and company is maximised.

- Working closely with and advising SSE business units on community development and community funding matters such as policy and best practice.

- Supporting internal and external communications about our community benefit funds, how they are operating and the impact they are delivering.

Strong planning and administration skills. You'll be expected to manage several community funds simultaneously, carefully balancing workload with deadlines in the most efficient and effective manner.

- A background in and commitment to supporting community development or the Third Sector and an understanding of the challenges facing communities.

- Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting to both small and large groups of people along with experience of dealing with a range of external stakeholders.

- An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office to enable you to produce first-class reports and case studies.

- A degree of flexibility is also required as your role will include working out-with core hours, particularly evenings, and significant travel mainly in Scotland but potentially across the UK and Ireland.

SSE has big ambitions to be a leading energy company in a low carbon world. Following our commitment to invest £20.5 billion in low carbon projects to 2027, we have significant growth plans and are well on our way to achieving our ambition to build a world that's more sustainable and inclusive for you, your family, the community you live in and for generations to come.
