Full Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of the Community Liaison Manager include:

  • To build excellent relationships with communities in areas where SSEN Transmission is working or has proposals for network reinforcement.


  • To engage with communities at an early stage and maintaining good relationships SSEN Transmission can build trust within communities which will help when introducing new proposals or when projects move into construction.


  • To effectively manage all community liaison, stakeholder engagement, issues management and project communications relating to existing and new SSEN Transmission assets within the post holders assigned region.


  • Be responsible for planning, implementing and reporting on effective community engagement.


  • Be able to ensure that all impacted parties and stakeholders in their assigned area are aware of our activities and the potential impacts of our works., At SSEN Transmission, we take immense pride in owning and operating the high-voltage electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland.     First class interpersonal skills (external and internal audiences) to initiate leads, build, maintain and improve external contacts; and establish strong working relationships to enable the job holder to seek cooperation from, influence or motivate others to help resolve problems.


  • Educated to degree level or have equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak publicly in front of large audiences.


  • Ability to develop and manage healthy relationships in challenging project circumstances whilst negotiating and influencing internal and external organisations and individuals.


  • Be a connector of people and information and can provide informed advice, rigour and challenge at team level to ensure that stakeholders views are given due consideration.
