Community Payback Unpaid Work Supervisor – Unpaid Work Team
East Neighbourhood Centre – Women’s Justice Centre, Newkirkgate Shopping Centre
Salary: £32,010 - £37,626
Hours: 36 hours over 4 days, (job share could be explored)
Hours are worked over 4 days, either Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday. working day is 8.00am to 5.30pm.
Edinburgh Justice Services are committed to providing high quality services and ensuring a compassionate, trauma informed approach towards people who use our services, and to supporting staff wellbeing. We are seeking enthusiastic, highly motivated people to join our dedicated team working with women and men. Unpaid Work Supervisors manage people in the performance of Unpaid Work in the community, as required by the conditions of Court Orders, in accordance with National Outcomes and Standards, and City of Edinburgh Policies, practices and Procedures.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of Unpaid Work groupwork within the Willow Service, the Women’s Justice team for Edinburgh. This post will have significant time dedicated to providing Unpaid Work for women within the Women’s Centre; therefore, that post is open only to female candidates (Occupational Requirement exception under Equality Act 2010).
The Supervisor role encompasses, but is not limited to:
• sourcing, developing, managing and organising projects that benefit both individuals and organisations in the community
• managing and evaluating the needs, skills and abilities of individuals undertaking Unpaid Work
• undertaking health and safety assessments and site assessments, demonstrating safe systems of work
• promoting pro-social modelling, challenging inappropriate behaviour, attitudes or language
Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of the Justice System, be confident and willing to work in a dynamic environment.
Candidates will have an SVQ III or equivalent qualification, experience may include a range of practical and creative skills, experience in supervising/ instructing people in work tasks, experience using power/hand tools, and will have a licence to drive a range of vehicles.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
