Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Nurse within North Ayrshire Elderly Community Mental Health Team.

What you will do:

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in close partnership with colleagues in primary care, community, social work and third sector. In support of our core purpose of Working together to achieve the healthiest life possible for everyone in Ayrshire and Arran we are committed to a culture that is Caring Safe and Respectful. The post holder is required to work collaboratively in a safe caring and respectful way. You will be highly motivated and prepared to innovate and develop practice and work as part of an integrated and multi-disciplinary environment placing the older person and their carers to the fore front. You will have responsibility for the supervision and of junior members of staff., NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a well-developed knowledge of care of older people with complex mental health problems in the community and appropriate interventions coupled with organisational skills and ability to work as part of a Team are essential for this post. In return you can expect to receive clinical supervision and excellent continuous professional development opportunities to further your nursing career. You will be educated to degree level or have a relevant post graduate qualification and experience relevant to job purpose. The CMHT forms part of the North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership and as a registered Mental Health Nurse, on Part 3 of the NMC Register, you will be an integral member of the team working within a distinct locality within North Ayrshire providing assessment, care, support and interventions to patients and carers living in North Ayrshire., Please note, for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is one of 14 territorial NHS Boards within NHS Scotland.
